Learn to Hem & Hand Sew: Simple Alterations & Visible Mending for Beginners
About this Event
Have you ever needed to hem pants, shirt sleeves, or replace a button? This workshop covers the fundamentals of needle and thread so you can love your clothes longer and make those thrift finds actually fit! No experience needed, just come!
Key techniques we will cover:
• How to thread a needle.
• What is hemming?.
• Straight stitch and Herringbone stitch.
• Common button designs and how to sew them.
• Popular visible mending designs, including Sashiko (Japanese visible mending).
Note: We will NOT be covering advanced sewing techniques, patterns, or anything that requires a sewing machine. For these, please check out our Learn to Sew Series.
