Are you tempted by the blue ocean depths? A spearo wanting to dive deeper, stay down longer and catch more fish? You came to the right place.Freediving lets you explore the space between two breaths. To learn to freedive means to learn about yourself, while exploring your body and mind - at depth. To hold the breath feels unnatural at first but with knoweldge and training, it can feel joyful, effortless and calming. Because of this, freediving can be challenging but ultimately life changing.
The Apnea Australia Stage A Freediving Course is the introduction to the purest form of diving. You'll learn about the importance of breathing and about the physiology of a breath hold - why you fell what you feel when you hold your breath and what you can do to safely prolong this experience - on land and in the water.
You'll learn skills that will take your freediving or spearfishing to the next level. Together, we'll work on the flexibility of your body and mind.
BEFORE THE COURSE, 60 min
Equalisation Webinar
DAY 1, 8am - 4pm
Theory & Pool training
I'll guide you through a pool training session so that you experience different training methods we use in freediving. We'll complete a static CO2 table and some dynamic drills. You'll leave this session with newly gained confidence in your skills and abilities.
DAY 2, 8am - 4:00pm
Theory & Deep pool freediving session
On this day, we'll freedive at 3m deep pool at Mayfield, Newcastle so that you can test your duck dive, equalisation and technique. It's extremely valuable to practice in controlled conditions before freediving in the ocean a week later.
DAY 3, 8am - 4pm
Open water Freediving session
During the day you will complete several dives and have the chance to experience everything you learned in the pool and in the class room hands-on in the ocean.
Depending on the ocean conditions, we aim to complete two freediving sessions, either in Newcastle or at Port Stephens / Nelson Bay.
WHAT'S NEXT
After you've completed the freediving course, you have all the skills and knowledge to start freediving deeper, longer and safer. Just like with anything in life, all the good things take time and effort.
Progress through 1:1 coaching or join my freediving freediving trips to South Australia and to Tonga in 2025.

I believe in QUALITY over QUANTITY. You will take the course with a maximum of 4 freedivers / 1 instructor. Or 6 freedivers / 2 instructors.
