Learn to fish at this fun, FREE, family event!

Join us at the Gary Halter Nature Center for Learn to Fish. This free class is designed to introduce participants ages 6 and up to the sport of fishing using fun, hands-on activities. Topics will include regulations and ethics; safety; rods, reels, and terminal tackle; two useful fishing knots; assembling a spin cast rod and reel; freshwater fish identification/habitat/handling/measuring; equipping your tackle box; casting instruction/practice; and, weather permitting, a chance to catch and release a fish at Central Park.
No TPWD Fishing License will be required for this event.
Please bring water, snacks and a lunch to eat on site. Expect to be outside about half the time and dress accordingly. All educational materials and equipment and bait are provided.
Youth must be accompanied by an adult at all times.
