Learn to Crochet - A Beginners Class

This five-week daytime course is on a Friday 10am - 1pm at our new Adult Learning Centre in Ipswich.

Who is this course for ?

Perfect for beginners, you will learn essential crochet techniques, understand patterns and abreviations, and create a series of samples before working towards a simple finished project.

Do I need to bring anything with me?

All of the resources you need will be provided.

Session 1: Getting Started with Crochet

• Understanding hooks, yarns and tension
• Holding the hook and yarn
• Slip knot and foundation chain
• Double crochet and treble crochet stitches

Session 2: Building Confidence

• Working in rows
• Turning chains
• Reading basic patterns
• Practising stitch consistency

Session 3: Granny Squares

• Working in rounds
• Corners and joining rounds
• Creating a traditional granny square

Session 4: Patterns and Finishing Techniques

• Understanding abbreviations and symbols
• Joining squares
• Weaving in ends
• Blocking basics

Session 5: Project Workshop

• Complete a small project (cushion front, coaster set, bag or similar)
• Troubleshooting and individual support

Please remember when putting in ticket information for more than one ticket that the correct information is provided for each individual person.

You will need to complete a short enrolment form in the centre before the course begins, we can help you with this and it won't take long (approx 5 mins) we just ask that you bring proof of ID.
