Learn Italian through Wine & Cheese

About:

Come spend a delicious afternoon learning about, eating and drinking Italian wines and cheeses! During this class, we’ll taste multiple wines from Newport Wine Cellar and cheeses from Mozz Newport, showcasing the flavors of Italy, and then we'll learn how to talk about them in the Italian language. We’ll learn about why certain pairings work with certain cheeses, as well as some interesting Italian wine & cheese history.

No prior knowledge of the Italian langauge required, come as you are!

About the instructors:
Julia Millon is a lifelong lover of cheese, travel, and languages. After traveling to Italy as a young child, and living in Viterbo, Italy her junior year of high school, Julia fell in love with the Italian language, culture, and food. She went on to major in Italian at the University of Colorado at Boulder, and continues to teach Italian to adults today. Outside of teaching, Julia works in Development for Harvard Law School, and is pursuing a master's degree in history with a focus on medical humanities at Harvard University.

Maria Chiancola is the owner of Newport Wine Cellar, a boutique wine & gourmet food shop in the heart of downtown Newport. Maria has been sharing her passion, knowledge, and enthusiasm for unique wines and artisanal foods since opening her shop in 2008. She also offers weekly wine tastings and regular seminars to introduce you to new wines and foods and create a connection within the community.
