Learn How to Make Dorset Buttons
About this Event
Discover the timeless craft of Dorset button making in this hands-on creative workshop. Originating in 17th-century England, Dorset buttons are beautifully intricate hand-stitched buttons traditionally made using rings, threads and simple embroidery techniques.
In this relaxed and beginner-friendly session, participants will create their own unique designs using colourful threads and traditional methods. You’ll be guided step-by-step through wrapping, weaving and stitching techniques to produce decorative buttons that can be used for jewellery, embellishments, textile art or keepsakes.
All materials are provided and no previous sewing experience is necessary. Whether you’re a textile enthusiast, crafter or simply looking to try something new, this workshop offers a mindful and rewarding introduction to a historic heritage craft.
