Learn How To Have Hard Conversations Without Feeling Powerless
About this Event
I believe that when given time and space, people can have hard conversations. The problem is there aren’t enough spaces to help with that. So I’m creating one to add to the mix.
You'll leave learning the following:
The basics of Nonviolent Communication .
How to start and end hard conversations.
The art of taking notes while active listening .
I grew up in a household where I had to read the room. I was adopted before age 5 and had to field tough questions about my parents at every family gathering. People had questions. I didn’t have nuance. I lost my temper.
As an adult, I learned to tame that temper and went back to school for my master’s in Negotiation and Conflict Management. From there, I began teaching transformative mediation in workplaces and homes. And I learned a few things:
People can communicate when they know their feelings.
People need a space to learn how to feel those feelings.
We have to observe what happens in that space. Only then can we move forward.
That’s the third option.
In this workshop, I’m bringing my expertise into the room so you don’t have to struggle through hard conversations this holiday season.
