About Our Speaker: Josette Lewis

As Chief Scientific Officer of the Almond Board of California, Dr. Josette Lewis oversees research on growing almonds, innovative new uses of almond co-products and research on the health benefits of almond consumption. Josette has worked in agriculture for 30 years, spanning government, industry, university and non-governmental organizations including the Environmental Defense Fund, UC Davis, Arcadia Biosciences and the U.S. Agency for International Development.

The Almond Board of California is funded by all U.S. almond growers and works to grow global demand through marketing programs around the world, addressing government technical and regulatory affairs and supporting almond quality and safety and production and environmental research. Almonds are the top crop in California by acreage and one of the top agricultural commodities by value. California produces 80% of the world's almonds.
