Session 1: Director Submission & The Role of the Director

Have you wanted to direct a show but don’t know where to start? Maybe you have directed but are looking to strengthen your ability in a few specific areas. Director 101 is a FREE three part workshop that will cover submissions, the role of a director, the administrative side of directing, technical & light design, blocking, and character development.
Our first session will focus on Director Submission and the Role of a Director. One of the current Selection Chairs, Sagan Drake, will walk through submission timelines, each theatre space, what selection looks for, what makes a good proposal and spend some time answering questions. Then Bridget Nowicki will break down the role of a director. She will talk about responsibilities, research, vision, and leadership.
Whether you have been a director or never directed, this will be a helpful session to dive into what it takes and where to start.
