About this Event

Learn 6 New Ways to Facilitate in 2026

Foundational skills for working with people

Many of us in these times feel a lack of connection to those around us. AI gives us knowledge at our fingertips but does it forge us together?

Human connections and shared experiences build empathy and enable better work as a team and better results for customers/service users.

How do you foster this?

What is good practice in liberating people to connect?

Join Becky as she shares 6 techniques over 3 weeks. All internationally known facilitation structures which she has used in her work with over 40 teams for liberating and forging team work.

Techniques include: psychological safety, deep listening, consent-based decision making, contextual inquiry and wicked questions!

Try these out in a safe space. Enjoy learning as a group of people about working with people. Tea and cake provided!

10am-12noon - Fridays: 30th Jan, 6th & 13th Feb 2026

Location in Leighton Buzzard - Theatre Meeting room at the Theatre above the Library on Lake St

Pay what you can afford from £5 - £60 for 1, 2 or 3 sessions.

Agenda
Session 1 - Psychological Safety and Deep Listening

Info: In this session we'll look at the foundational technique for all facilitation - psychological safety. It's important that participants feel safe, so they can be open and honest - that goes for this session too - so that's why we'll start here. After a tea break, we'll try a deep listening exercise. This is harder than it sounds - I usually have to work really hard to focus on listening - so we'll all do our best and see what happens. But the results of deep listening are always worth the effort.

Session 2 - Contextual Inquiry and Wicked Questions

Info: Contextual inquiry has become a well established technique in the field of User Experience for anything from designing the latest iPhone to understanding how surgeons work. It can also be used to better understand your co-worker and empathise with the challenge of using multiple tools/apps within their environment. Wicked Questions are a fun and challenging way to kick off a great conversation - and can be used anywhere: at a party, within a leadership meeting, with your MP! You'll learn about the technique and have a chance to try it out within small groups.

Session 3 - Shared Understanding and Consent Based Decision Making

Info: My most used technique - though you could call it a broader approach - is shared understanding. We'll learn why this is so important and how to get others to see this too. There's many other techniques to get from an understanding through ideation to decision making but we'll just have time to focus on one approach with consent based decision making. But if you want to learn more then I would happily extend this series or share more in a way that is useful for you. Thank you for your curiosity in coming this far. I look forward to having fun with putting these techniques into practice
