Kirtan with Govind Das
Date: Friday, September 4th
Time: 6:30-8pm
Investment: $30 pre-registration / $35 walk-in
Come chant. Open your heart. Quiet your mind. Feel the power of voices becoming one.
Kirtan is so much more than music—it is an ancient practice of Bhakti Yoga that uses sacred mantra, rhythm, melody, and the collective power of our voices to bring us out of the thinking mind and into the heart.
Why come to kirtan?
Kirtan gatherings are place to put down the stress, worries, and constant noise of everyday life. A place to breathe deeply, sing freely, move our bodies, and reconnect with the joy and aliveness that can get buried underneath it all.
Through the repetition of sacred mantras put to uplifting music, kirtan can help calm the mind, release stress and emotional tension, deepen presence, uplift the spirit, and awaken feelings of peace, gratitude, love, and devotion.
As the chanting builds, something beautiful often happens. The mind becomes quieter. The heart begins to soften. The breath deepens. The body relaxes. And instead of feeling separate, we begin to feel connected—to ourselves, to one another, and to something greater.
There is also a powerful sense of community and belonging that comes from chanting together. You may arrive surrounded by strangers, but as dozens of individual voices become one, the boundaries between us begin to dissolve. We laugh, sing, sometimes cry, sometimes dance—and remember how healing it can be simply to gather together with open hearts.
Govind Das has been leading kirtan publicly for more than 25 years, sharing this sacred practice around the world and creating joyful, devotional spaces where everyone is welcome.
Just bring your voice. Bring your heart.
Come experience the joy, release, connection, peace, devotion, and love that can arise when we chant the sacred names together.
