About this Event
LEADS: Managing Public Safety
The Law Enforcement Automated Data System (LEADS) is a cornerstone of public safety operations across Ohio. For municipalities, effective use and management of LEADS is not just a technical requirement—it’s a matter of compliance, responsibility, and ultimately, community trust.
This workshop is designed for both IT leaders new to public safety environments and non-IT public safety leaders who need a clear understanding of their responsibilities when it comes to handling Criminal Justice Information (CJI).
We’ll cover the “what, why, and how” of LEADS through both technical and administrative perspectives, helping leaders at every level understand the critical role this system plays.
Key Topics Include:
- Introduction to LEADS & CJI: What it is, why it matters, and your responsibilities.
- Policy Updates: Breaking down upcoming changes to CJIS policy and what the October compliance deadline means for your municipality.
- Administrative Responsibilities: Understanding policy oversight, audits, and leadership’s role in compliance.
- Technical Best Practices: Guidance for IT personnel on secure implementation, including MFA methods, product considerations, and practical security controls.
- Q&A Session: An open forum for IT and public safety professionals to ask technical and implementation-related questions.
Whether you’re managing day-to-day IT operations or leading a public safety department, this workshop will equip you with the knowledge and tools to protect sensitive data, maintain compliance, and strengthen public trust.
Register for each person attending.
