About this Event

Leaders in Law: Harold Koh

Michigan State University College of Law continues its inaugural Leaders in Law speaker series, exploring how the Constitution and the rule of law continue to shape American democracy. On February 11, 2027, at 5:30 p.m., Harold Koh, Sterling Professor of International Law and former Dean of Yale Law School, will speak in the Jackson Lounge at the Wharton Center.

A leading authority on international law, human rights, and U.S. foreign relations, Koh has served in four presidential administrations, including as Legal Adviser to the U.S. Department of State and Assistant Secretary of State for Democracy, Human Rights and Labor. He has argued before the U.S. Supreme Court and international tribunals, authored more than 275 scholarly works and 10 books, and received numerous honors for his contributions to international law.

Drawing from the forthcoming second edition of The Trump Administration and International Law (2027), Koh will examine how the two Trump Administrations have challenged domestic and international rule of law, and the legal strategies used to defend democratic institutions and human rights.
