Lead Like Low: London, UK
About this Event
Join USA Girl Scouts Overseas for our 4th Annual Leadership Weekend, exclusively for Girl Scout Cadettes (7th and 8th graders), Seniors, and Ambassadors. Participants will meet other Girl Scouts from around the world while strengthening their leadership skills and preparing to tackle one of the Highest Awards.
Training sessions will focus on preparing Girl Scouts to earn their Silver or Gold Award! Girl Scouts who have completed their Silver or Gold Award pre-requisites can count time in session (about 9-hours) on their project time log! While participants will have some opportunities to explore the local area, it is important to note that this program is first and foremost a Silver and Gold Award workshop. If your Girl Scout is not interested in earning their Silver or Gold Award, please do not sign up for this event.
Training sessions include:
- Introduction to Highest Awards
- Skills for Real-World Leadership
- Leadership Styles and Team Work
- Project Management
- Problem Solving
- Goal Setting
- Budgeting and Money-Earning
- Project Idea Workshopping
- Navigating GoGold
- And More!
When Girl Scouts aren't sharpening their leadership skills, they will experience programming delivered by Pax Lodge, a WAGGGS World Centre.
If your Girl Scout would like to see more of London, we're also offering the optional excursions below before and after the event as add-ons:
Friday, October 30th from 10am-2pm
Camden Lock Market and Canal Boat Ride
Explore popular Camden Market and see London from the water! Girl Scouts will travel by tube and/or bus to Camden Lock Market where they will have time to wander through the bustling stalls, discover unique treasures, snap photos, and shop for souvenirs from local artists and vendors. From international street food to handmade crafts and vintage finds, Camden Market offers something for everyone. After the market, girls will board the London Waterbus for a leisurely canal cruise through some of London’s most charming waterways. Along the way, enjoy scenic views, spot colorful canal boats, and learn about the city from a different angle as you travel toward picturesque Little Venice.
Sunday, November 1st from 12pm-4pm
Juliette Gordon Low in London Challenge
While Juliette Gordon Low is best known for founding Girl Scouts of the USA in 1912 and working tirelessly to promote the movement and its aims, she also spent much of her adult life in the United Kingdom and was a passionate supporter of the Girl Guiding movement. As you explore London’s historic streets and landmarks, you’ll learn about Juliette’s connections to the city, the people who influenced her vision, and the experiences that helped shape the Girl Scout movement we know today. Complete the walk to earn your Challenge Patch and celebrate the remarkable woman whose vision continues to inspire girls around the world.
Please note that the United Kingdom requires all visitors to obtain an electronic travel authorisation (ETA) before arrival.
We do not want the cost of this program to prevent any Girl Scout from attending! Financial support is availiable. Please apply here if needed.
