PERFORMANCE DATES: January 15-31, 2027 ; Friday - Sat at 7 PM and Sunday at 1 PM at the Lindsay Creek Vineyards.
*Rehearsals will start November 18, (light rehearsal week of Thanksgiving and Christmas)

ABOUT THE SHOW
Jane Austen in 89 Minutes is a fast-paced, irreverent, and hilarious theatrical comedy that covers all six of Jane Austen's major novels in under an hour and a half. Directed and narrated by Austen herself, the play relies on a small, high-energy ensemble to tackle over 40 iconic characters. Blending sharp literary wit with broad farce, physical comedy, and modern pop-culture nods, this show is a theatrical marathon and a true masterclass in ensemble acting.
WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR
We are seeking versatile, highly collaborative actors who are 16+ with strong comedic timing. Performers must be comfortable with quick-change storytelling, rapid-fire dialogue, and basic movement. All roles are open to creative, diverse casting. The ability to do British accents is preferred, but not necessary.
WHAT TO PREPARE: We will be doing readings from the script for the audition and ask people to be prepared to move for the audition.
CHARACTER BREAKDOWN
We are seeking a versatile ensemble of 7-10 actors (4-7W, 3M) to play dozens of roles. British accents and strong physical comedy skills are required for all tracks.
Jane Austen: The narrator and host. Witty, commanding, and sharp. She anchors the pacing and speaks directly to the audience.
Lady #1: Plays the headstrong heroines (Elizabeth Bennet, Emma Woodhouse, Elinor Dashwood).
Lady #2: Plays the romantic or impressionable heroines (Jane Bennet, Marianne Dashwood, Catherine Morland).
Lady #3: Comedic character track focusing on eccentric matriarchs, villains, and gossips (Mrs. Bennet, Miss Bates, Mrs. Norris).
Gentlemen #1, #2, & #3: Three high-energy tracks splitting all the male roles. Actors fast-change between dashing romantic leads (Mr. Darcy, Captain Wentworth) and ridiculous or villainous suitors (Mr. Collins, Mr. Wickham).
