Join this session for expert advice on how to create a strong CV and master writing cover letters that will stand out to recruiters.
About this Event

This session is only for London College of Fashion students and graduates. It is aligned to your Graduate Futures careers and employability journey.

Feeling lost when it comes to building your CV from scratch or writing cover letters? Are you unsure on what to include? This session will focus on the essentials so you can start to create a CV and cover letters that effectively showcase your skills, experience and qualifications.

We’ll show you how to craft, layout and format your CV using effective examples and guide you through the process of creating compelling cover letters that grab the attention of hiring managers and sets you apart from the competition.

Your CV and cover letter are your first chance to make a lasting impression and we’re going to share just what recruiters are looking for from potential candidates and how to you can tailor your documents to suit different roles and brands within the creative industries and stand out to employers. By attending this session you’ll gain access to the Graduate Futures Padlet, filled with resources, podcasts, videos and further reading.



Speakers
  • , LCF Graduate Futures Careers Consultant: Leveraging over 30 years of experience as a Buyer, Headhunter and now Consultant, Melanie has worked with a number of brands including Christian Louboutin, Vivienne Westwood, AllSaints, Threads Styling and Sweaty Betty on projects relating to talent acquisition and executive search. Passionate about helping to build both brands and careers through putting the right people, in the right place at the right time she continues to use her industry expertise to coach and inspire the next generation looking to pursue careers in fashion.

In this session, you will develop the key skills of resilience, communication, connectivity, storytelling and self-efficacy as defined by the UAL Creative Attributes Framework (My_CAF). Before attending this activity, we suggest you:

  • Check out the Graduate Futures Moodle page, (or for alumni the Graduate Futures Leavers Pack), which is filled with resources, learning guides, and podcasts.
  • Students should explore the Graduate Futures Careers Padlet, which is filled with useful links, videos, and further reading.
