The Dominican Cultural Dictionary, created by Dominican writer, filmmaker, and educator Jimmy Sierra, is an educational and reference work that offers an accessible gateway to the richness and diversity of Dominican culture, bringing together key aspects of its history, culture, and folklore.
Through 1,164 entries, the publication brings together biographies, historical events, institutions, groups, publications, and key concepts that illuminate the Dominican Republic’s cultural heritage and history. The Dictionary features 851 individuals, 101 groups, 90 institutions, 33 events, 29 publications, and 57 concepts, among other categories.
The English edition expands the reach of this valuable resource, making Dominican history and culture more accessible to new audiences, researchers, students, and communities in the United States and beyond.
Additional Presentation: The event will also feature the presentation of “El Presidente Leonel Fernandez: 30 años de su ascenso al poder”, by Marcelino Ozuna.
