Launch of Climbing for Wellbeing Report
About this Event
While it is well established that climbing brings wide-ranging benefits to both mental and physical adult health, the reasons why are less understood.
For the past twelve months, researchers at UCL have been investigating Climbing for Wellbeing, a programme of instructed indoor bouldering at Yonder climbing wall, Blackhorse Road, and its effectiveness at improving LB Waltham Forest residents' mental health and wellbeing.
Led by Dr Jacob Fairless Nicholson (UCL Geography) and Dr Abigail Thompson (UCL Anna Frued) and funded by UCL Grand Challenges, the research project leverages interdisciplinary insight and expertise from the social and health sciences. With the project now complete, the findings have been published in a report that will be distributed to GP surgeries across LB Waltham Forest.
This November, join the researchers for the launch of this special report at Yonder as they share key findings on topics ranging from flow state to belonging, and reveal recommendations for implementation by civil society organisations and industry stakeholders. You'll learn about the wide-ranging benefits of Climbing for Wellbeing and discover how this important programme can benefit communities in Waltham Forest and beyond.
