Laugh Your Ads Off: Austin
About this Event
Austin has been a great ad town for decades. Now it's a great comedy town too. Comedians actually buy houses here. Try that in New York…
Comedian Brian Simpson headlines. His Netflix special was the first ever shot at the Mothership, and he's been on Rogan enough times to earn a punch card. Ramin Nazer, who won Funniest Person in Austin before pivoting to psychedelic existential cartoons, brings a talk on the business of creative work. The folks at Tool, holders of an actual Cannes Palme d'Or, show how funny scripts become funny spots. And Rob Baird, co-founder and CCO of Preacher, moderates a panel on getting funny work sold again and again (and again).
Beats from delightful weirdos / music house Singing Serpent.
Thursday, September 17th at Preacher.
Doors open at 6:30.
There will be grub, fizz, and booze.
Come for the laughs. Leave with a better argument for why you're smarter than your client.
