About The Instructor: Daniela Vargas Calvo is a Costa Rican dancer, choreographer, teaching artist, clown, and arts administrator with experience in project management and production. Her passion for dance, combined with her academic background, informs her creative practice and equips her to develop artistic projects that respond to contemporary social contexts and community needs.

Daniela’s studies in sociology have deeply influenced her artistic work, leading her to create dance productions that explore social issues and human connection. Her creative process is further shaped by clown technique, Latin dance, West African dance, and poetry writing, each contributing unique perspectives to her movement vocabulary and storytelling.

As an artist and educator, Daniela is committed to expanding access to dance and creative expression, particularly for underserved and underrepresented communities. Through performance, education, and community engagement, she seeks to create meaningful artistic experiences that foster connection, inclusion, and dialogue.
