Cortadito Band Performs a Tribute to Buena Vista Social Club with Special Guest Aymée Noviola.
The event will also feature musician Nestor Torres.
Imagine going back in time when the streets of Cuba sizzled with music from blazing trumpets and soulful guitars that lit the night on fire. The Cortadito Band’s - Tribute to Buena Vista Social Club, will bring back unforgettable memories and sounds from Cuba’s golden age to Casselberry’s Latin Jazz & Art Festival at Lake Concord Park on September 20, 2025, from 4-9 p.m. Special guest and multi-GRAMMY and Latin Award-winning songstress, Aymée Noviola, will join Cortadito on the stage to perform her high energy tropical dance music with a magical blend of Afro-Cuban sounds. This talented composer and actress also portrayed the legendary Celia Cruz “Queen of Salsa” in the Telemundo series Celia! Her music is a dynamic fusion of Cuban rhythms and Latin jazz, inspired by Afro-Cuban heritage, Son, Rumba, Mambo, and American Jazz. Nuviola's versatile talents allow her to perform across genres, including salsa, bachata, jazz, boleros, bossa nova, and nueva trova.
Since its origins twelve years ago, the evolution of Cortadito has led it to become one of the torchbearers of a pop culture phenomenon that is two centuries strong. A traditional folk and acoustic band that focuses on performing one of the earliest styles of Cuban country music known as Son (pronounced sOwn), their sound can best be described as reminiscent of the famed Buena Vista Social Club. This dynamic, Miami-based ensemble has performed with world-known flutist, Nestor Torres and legendary member of Buena Vista Social Club, Eliades Ochoa. In October of 2022, the group was invited to perform at the Kennedy Center's Millennium Stage in celebration of Hispanic Heritage Month.
In May of 2025, the group released their first full-length feature album titled “The Guajiro Triangle”. The recording features guest appearances by GRAMMY award-winning singer Aymée Nuvioa and flautist Nestor Torres. The nine original compositions celebrate the traditions of Cuban music in the modern world. The triangle represents the musical connection between Santiago de Cuba, Havana, and Miami, the group's home and final destination of the journey that was established two centuries ago.
