Grove Estate is a small, boutique, single estate, family run vineyard based just outside
the market town of Eccleshall, Staffordshire.
Rob and Liz Grove acquired the vineyard in 2015 after it had been planted in 2010 and
set about creating ‘Grove Estate’ to provide a roadmap to become a truly local business
that produces high quality wines in a sustainable manner.
The pair started with zero knowledge of the viticulture (growing grapes) process and
have been self-taught in all areas. To retain the ‘Single Estate’ status (only using grapes
grown in our vineyard) we have learnt the arts of Blending and Dosage (lifting the
wines from bone dry), ensuring a unique blend of our grapes.
The vineyard comprises of 3 varieties of grapes set across an acre of land with the
perfect south facing elevation. The white varieties (Phoenix and Seyval) are blended to
create our English White Sparkling, with a touch of our red grape (Rondo) added to
make the Rose Sparkling.
Rondo is used exclusively in the Still and Sparkling Red, making them both Single
Estate, Single Varietal wines. The idea of the Sparkling Red is based on the Australian
Shiraz Sparkling and should be served as cold as possible.
The Still White is 100% Phoenix that has parentage in the Bacchus grape which is the
closest we have to Sauvignon Blanc in this country.
The Still Rose is a blend of all three grapes grown in the vineyard.
Many of the wines have won nationally recognised awards and are available in high-
end restaurants such as the Michelin Starred ‘Upstairs by Tom Shepherd’ in Lichfield
and the Michelin Guide ‘Little Seeds’ in Stone.
