The Writers Guild at Bloomington presents Last Sunday Poetry, featuring Mary Ardery and Cassie Neville.MARY ARDERY is the author of Level Watch (June Road Press, 2025), a poetry collection based on her experience as a wilderness guide for women in a substance-abuse treatment program outside of Asheville, NC. She earned a BA from DePauw University and an MFA from Southern Illinois University-Carbondale, where she won an Academy of American Poets Prize. Her poems appear in Beloit Poetry Journal, Best New Poets, Poet Lore, Prairie Schooner, RHINO, and elsewhere. The recipient of a Lifelong Arts Fellowship from the Indiana Arts Commission, she was born and raised in Bloomington and now lives in West Lafayette with her family.
CASSIE NEVILLE (she/they) is an emerging poet in Bloomington, Indiana, weaving quiet moments into vivid verse. She draws inspiration from nature, nostalgia, and the little things that pull on your heartstrings. Her works have been heard at open mics and living room floors across Bloomington. She is currently working on a debut collection.
Emerging and established poets who need a supportive audience: Sign up for open mic! Your words are precious. The time limit per open mic participant is 3-5 min. depending on the number signed up (e.g. 3.75 min. if 12).
Arrive 20-50 min. before the 7pm program start time so you can:
- Sign up for open mic
- Meet and greet featured poets, and each other
- Purchase the store's books and other gift items
- Order and enjoy cafe food and beverages
