William Rodriguez was a janitor at the World Trade Center for nearly twenty years.
He was the owner of one of 5 master keys which opened doors throughout the entire complex.
On 9/11 , after the first plane hit and an initial escape, he re-entered the building two more times in a desperate attempt to rescue his friends at the Windows on the World restaurant on the 106th floor.
On his final attempt, William led firefighters up the stairwells, unlocking fire doors and clearing a path as they climbed in search of survivors.
This is a story of miraculous survival, extraordinary heroism, and the lasting aftermath of that fateful day.
