Exhibition Dates: July 26nd, 2024 through August 26, 2024
ELIGIBILITY: All artists presently living in Southwest Kansas or surrounding areas are invited to enter. All artists and their guests are invited to the opening and reception on July 26th at 5:30 pm. Cash Awards Available for Professional: 1st, 2nd, 3rd and Amateur: 1st, 2nd, 3rd. Trotter's Choice Award, People's Choice Award, and Carnegie's Choice Award.
Fee for Exhibit Entry: $35: $35.00 per entry, maximum of 3 entries per artist, Checks made payable to D.C.A.A.C. We accept credit/debit card. Cash too. Entry fees are NON- REFUNDABLE. Entry does not guarantee acceptance of work.

Your payment should be postmarked by July 13, 2024.
ENTRY: Artists must enter online by July 13, 2024. If artists are notified of acceptance; artwork should be delivered by July 20th.
The Carnegie Arts Center provides a spectacular quality venue in South West Kansas for a variety of subject matter from contemporary to Southwestern art and beyond. Artwork submitted should be listed for sale, but exceptions may be made on a case by case basis. The Carnegie retains a 30% commission on any sale made in the galleries during the exhibition, while the artist retains 70%. We will be looking for a variety of stylistic representations amongst the works and would like the exhibition to serve as a platform for exchange and collaboration among artists. The Carnegie Arts Center reserves the right to accept or reject any submissions for the exhibition.
MEDIA CATAGORIES AND SPECIFICATIONS: AIl two- dimensional works: painting, drawing, and mixed media must be suitably framed to hang. Please nothing wider that 24" , including the frame. Sculptures must be free standing and able to sit on a pedestal. AIl three-dimensional works: sculpture, ceramics, glass, textiles, jewelry must be small enough to pass through a standard door. No mold castings accepted. Only hand-made figurines will be accepted, dolls are not sculptures. No electrical, kinetic, liquid, unassembled, or potentially dangerous works will be accepted.
RULES: 1) All art work created for this contest should reflect the Art on the Plains theme .
2) You MUST include a short explanation of the relationship between your art piece and the Art on the Plains theme. Judging will be based on adherence to the theme.
3) Artwork may be shipped to and from; at YOUR expense. Include a return shipping label in the package.. No late entries.
4) Artists must be 18 years of age or older. AIl work must be original, completed in the last 2 years, and not previously entered in this show.
5) Work must be original. Do not copy someone else's artwork (we will do an image check). Avoid using copyrighted images as your inspiration. 6) Labels must be attached to the back side, upper right hand corner. On 2- dimensional work post the label in an inconspicuous place. No substitution, exchange, modification, or withdrawal permitted after being advanced to the Juried Contest/ Exhibition.
7) Judges are professional and confidential.
The application includes prompts for each artist’s biography and/or artist statement and three photographs (high resolution images preferred) of work you intend to submit. Submission of 3 images does not guarantee acceptance, the museum may select 0, 1, 2, or 3 of your submissions. Enter your contact information and any narrative about your chosen pieces on the application form. Please indicate the title of each work, dimensions, and your sale price on the application. Once your application and payment have been received prior to or July 13, 2024 your application will be marked complete. Earlier works submitted may have their images selected for exhibit promotional and print media.
DELIVERY: The Carnegie staff will notify you of any selections accepted by July 15th . If selected, works must be shipped or delivered to the Carnegie prior to July 20th. All shipped works are to be sent in reusable packaging. Please allow ample time for entries to reach us. All hand delivered works will be accepted Tuesday through Friday, 9:30am - 4pm, or Saturday, 9:30am - 12pm only. Exceptions will be considered and arranged on a case by case basis.
RETURN: Postage and Shipping Cost is the responsibility of the artist to and from the Carnegie Arts Center. Unless exact return postage is included with entry, carrier-delivered works will be returned (insured for the purchase price unless otherwise indicated) at the conclusion of the exhibition. Hand-delivered works may be picked up at the conclusion of the exhibition. The Carnegie will not be responsible for works left after August 31, 2024.
SALES: Every effort will be made to promote sales. A commission of 30% will be charged on all sales to help defray the cost of the Exhibition. AIl accounts will be settled by Aug. 31, 2024. If there is not a price given on the entry blank; the work will be listed as "not for sale" . We encourage all artists to list prices for sale.
LIABILITY: All possible care will be taken of the work submitted to the Exhibition. D.C.A.A.C. and The Carnegie Center of the Arts will not assume any liability for loss or damage. Unless stated otherwise, the Arts Council will assume permission to photograph selected art works for publicity purposes. Submission of the work implies acceptance of the conditions herewith set forth.
