We'll offer a brief overview of our organization including mission, vision, and culture.
9:20am Clean Water
LASAN is responsible for maintaining one of the largest wastewater collection and treatment systems in the world. We maintain over 6,700 miles of sewer line and 4 water reclamation plants that support over 4 million residents and over 15,000 industrial users in the City of LA. Come learn more about the daily work our engineers do to make this possible.
9:40am Watershed Protection
Did you know there are wetlands and estuaries in LA? Come see how LASAN’s Engineers manage and improve water quality in impaired water bodies, protect habitat, and restore beauty in our communities utilizing funds from various sources, including the Safe Clean Water Act.
10:00am Solid Resources
LASAN oversees the collection and processing of waste from the over 4 million residents of the City of Los Angeles. We ensure the most environmentally sustainable end-of-life for 1.7 million tons (about two cruise ships) of waste per year by managing recycling centers, composting, food rescue, landfill management, hazardous waste dropoff sites, and more. Learn how engineers design and optimize these waste collection systems to keep LA's homes, yards, and streets clean.
10:30am Financial Management
FMD is a great place for diversification in understanding the magnitude of costs and risk assessments, asset management and other tools engineers use to maintain our quality of life. From climate change to biosolids, learn how an engineering background can give you a competitive edge in finance.
