Las Mujeronas Flamenco

Las Mujeronas brings together a collective of Flamenco Latinas in Vancouver to explore the impact of immigration on identity memory and cultural expression. Performed in both Spanish and English with select texts translated for accessibility the work seamlessly fuses flamenco dance poetry song and storytelling to reflect the complex and layered experiences of migration. Drawing on the intercultural roots of flamenco especially the Ida y Vuelta (going and coming) song forms that travelled between Spain and Latin America the piece becomes a powerful act of reclaiming voice space and belonging. Through rhythm movement and lived experience Las Mujeronas invites audiences into a bold and intimate reimagining of home and heritage.
