Larkin to Host “Scatter Day” and Cremation Center Open House
About this Event
As part of the event, guests will have the opportunity to tour Larkin’s new Cremation Center and learn more about the cremation process as a final disposition option. The open house is designed to help families better understand cremation, explore memorialization options, and honor loved ones in a peaceful environment.
With cremation becoming increasingly common, many families find themselves unsure of what to do with a loved one’s remains. In fact, studies suggest that one in five households keeps cremated remains at home. For those who wish to scatter ashes but are uncertain how or where to do so, Scatter Day offers guidance, support, and a meaningful path forward.
“Scatter Day gives families the chance to bring their loved one’s cremated remains to Larkin Sunset Lawn and take an important step toward closure,” said Rob Larkin, President of Larkin. “Many families hold on to remains because they’re not ready to let go or aren’t aware of their options. Our goal is to provide a beautiful, permanent way to memorialize their loved one at no cost.”
Cremated remains placed during the event will be interred in a shared ossuary—an underground resting space for ashes—at Larkin Sunset Lawn. Each individual’s name will be engraved on a collective upright granite memorial. Families should note that an Authorization and Acknowledgment form must be completed prior to placement, along with submission of a Certificate of Cremation and Cremation Permit.
