About this Event

Description:

After digging into our diagnostic grid data, this session zeroes in on students working to cross from Intermediate into Advanced, focusing on reading and writing. This one is especially relevant for instructors teaching 200-level classes — as well as those teaching 300-level classes, since a subset of students coming home from missions still need to strengthen the advanced floor.

Come with a strategy or two up your sleeve — something you've tried in your own classroom that's helped students make this particular jump. We'll open the floor for everyone to compare notes.

Then Troy will dig into the specifics of what's required to reach Advanced, reviewing the ACTFL major-level criteria from the 2024 revised Proficiency Guidelines.

This year's LARC Proficiency Lineup:
December 9 — Crossing the Advanced Border in Reading/Writing
January 27 — Crossing the Superior Border in Listening/Speaking
February 24 — Crossing the Superior Border in Reading/Writing
March 24 — The Role of Grammar in a Proficiency-Based Curriculum
