Lantern making workshop for Mothers

We are delighted to be collaborating with Mothers for Mothers & the Lamp Lighter Artists for this exciting opportunity to learn how to create lanterns.

What to expect:

• Come together, in a relaxed and informal environment to connect with other mothers
• Explore what CARE means to you & us together. What is the magic & what are the challenges?
• Be creative & learn a new skill: how to make a 2D illuminated protest/placard lanterns with Bristol's very own LampLighter Artists
• What is it that decision makers, employers and society really need to know about the care mothers provide? What change do you & your loved ones need to thrive?
• Your humour, disappointment, fierceness, sorrow, rage, wild imagination of a better world, your creativity, your asks and demands are welcome
• All materials provided, no previous experience needed
• Coffee/tea and buiscuits are provide

Care is the backbone of society. As we birth human beings into life, how are we supported?

This workshop is part of a series of workshops leading up to the

"Who Cares? We care! Shining a Light on Care' Lantern procession in Central Bristol.

SAVE THE DATE! On the 22nd March 2025,6.30pm - 8.30pm, Bristol Women's Voices, families, friends and allies, will gather in fierce beauty to raise awareness of the importance and value of care.

We will walk & sing with our heads held high, our messages shining bright, claiming our honour & dignity, and that of those who will be absent due to caring responsibilities or being cared for, and we are demanding change!

This will be a peaceful, beautiful and family friendly event with performances, lanterns with women's messages, large figurines wearing dressed printed with women's messages, invitation to sing, finding and representing strength in togetherness. We will be seen!
