Lantern Festival at Lan Yuan
Celebrate the conclusion of the Chinese New Year by joining us for a tranquil afternoon viewing at Lan Yuan, Dunedin Chinese Garden.
Get creative by crafting your own paper lantern; use templates to add a snake to celebrate the new year or create your own unique design. Try your hand at making a lily pad lantern to take home or float on our pond.
Participate in our cherished New Year activities—tie a ribbon to the wishing tree or light a joss stick for prosperity, or head up to the Tower Room to craft your own felted fortune cookie.
Dumplings are an essential dish to welcome the arrival of a new year and bid farewell to the old one. Bring the whole whanau to the garden to enjoy a pot of tea and a dumpling snack! Consuming dumplings during the New Year is believed to bring financial fortune and good luck for the coming year.
