Muddy Waters was among the Blues stars that found the Lansing area to his liking performing many times at area venues. Join the Historical Society of Greater Lansing for a presentation on the Blues in Lansing 6:30 p.m., Thursday, August 21 as Ron Eggleston, a Blues aficionado, Lansing resident and former Board Member of the Capital Area Blues Society presents a program on the history of the Society and its role in booking national acts to Lansing during the last days of the Blues in the 1990s. Learn more about the legendary performers like Sippie Wallace, Muddy Waters, James Harmon, Alberta Adams and Sonny Terry and Brownie McGhee who performed regularly in Lansing at MSU, the Stables, Grandmothers, Capitol Hill Station, Jambalayas, the Green Door and at Michigan State University Kiva and MSU Union. Some special Blues posters of Dennis Preston will be on display at the Rogers-Carrier House, 528 N. Capitol on the campus of Lansing Community College. Event to be held at the Rogers-Carrier House on the campus of L.C.C.
Eggleston said, “CABs led to a resurgence of the Blues in Lansing and was a catalyst for creating a camaraderie among local Blues players in Lansing that exists today.”
“CABs brought in a cornucopia of Blues artist over a five-year period that fueled the Blues in Lansing,” he said.
