Hey everyone it's that time of the year again! Time for some fishing and the 3rd Langford Lake fishing derby. This year it will be on Sunday April 13th. Fish weighing will begin at 7AM and end at 2:30PM with the end ceremonies being at 5PM the same day at the kids park at the end of Leigh Rd.
Just like last year we will have someone weighing fish at the new dock by the YMCA and also the fishing dock just beside it. We will have someone weighing fish at the fishing dock at "kitty Le Quesne" park and also the kids park/main beach at the end of Leigh Rd, where Zak Davis from Robinsons Outdoor store will be doing fly fishing casting lessons from 8-11. We will have a few more boats this year on the lake weighing fish, they will be identified by a Canadian flag off of there boat.
Tickets will be on sale April 1st at Island Outfitters and Robinsons outdoor store where you will be required to sign a waiver when acquiring a ticket. Tickets are by donation and all donations will be given to the Canadian Cancer Society which last year we managed to raise 1150$.
This year all the donations will be donated in the name of Patrick Gilmore (owner of Pats Premium Fly's) who we sadly lost to cancer last year. Pat has sponsored our Derby's since the beginning and was also a very accomplished and well knwon fly tyer and seller in the lower mainland for many many years!
As always let's remember this is a derby for the kids at the end of the day but we made sure to have some prizes for the adults also. Thank you everyone we can't wait to see all of you out there.
