The exhibit, titled "Stars, Stripes and Celebrations: Missourians Commemorating America's Founding," showcases the ways in which Missourians have commemorated U.S. independence every 50 years since 1776. It also analyzes potential lessons from these celebrations. The exhibit integrates images and artifacts, as well as oral histories. With the generous support of Missouri Humanities and the Kinder Institute on Constitutional Democracy, "Stars, Stripes and Celebrations" will be on display at the Missouri State Museum in Jefferson City from June 2026 through May 2027.
The April 1 discussion is part of the Missouri State Museum's Landing After Hours series. This series is held the first Wednesday of every other month at Jefferson Landing State Historic Site. Doors to the site’s Lohman Building open at 6:30 p.m., and the program begins at 7 p.m. Convenient parking is available in the lot next to the Lohman Building, located at 100 Jefferson St.
The discussion will also be livestreamed on the Missouri State Museum’s Facebook page. Did you know that you don't have to have a Facebook account to view Facebook videos or live programs? Simply follow the link and enjoy.
