**Space is limited, pre-registration required** Join naturalists Amalee Houk and Leigh Ann McCulla for a special fall hiking series that uncovers the hidden stories beneath your feet. Through guided walks at three distinct parks, we’ll explore how the landscape of Miami County has been shaped over millions of years by ancient seas, powerful glaciers, flowing water, and human hands. Each 2-3-hour hike will weave together geology, hydrology, and local history to reveal how natural forces and human activity have transformed the land over time. Perfect for curious adults who want to see their local parks through a whole new lens. Session Descriptions: Charleston Falls Preserve: “Falls, Faults, and Fossils” Hike to the striking waterfall and explore the ancient marine bedrock, fossil-rich limestone, and karst features that reveal the powerful forces shaping this land over hundreds of millions of years. Lost Creek Reserve: “From Bedrock to Barns, a Knoop Homestead History” Walk through farmland-turned-reserve as we examine the role of glacial soils, spring-fed hydrology, and human land use in shaping this productive and ever-evolving landscape. Greenville Falls Scenic River Area: “Rocks, Ruins, and the Power of Water” Discover the dramatic interplay of geology and industry at this historic site, where cascading falls, exposed fossils, and old mill ruins tell a layered story of erosion, energy, and change. https://miamicountyparks.recdesk.com/Community/Program/Detail?programId=1919
