Every year, around 16.000 buildings are demolished in the Netherlands - around 43 every single day (!). Do we fully understand the scale of it? Do we know what buildings are demolished, threatened, or saved, the climate impact, stories and communities that disappear with them? The Sloopkaart was built to create a visual archive where anyone can help make tangible what has so far remained invisible.
Recognising that demolition is a systemic issue that touches on climate and social justice, economics, culture and identity, and impacts communities in very real and tangible ways, we will be joined by politicians, researchers and construction industry experts on the panel will bring together all our perspectives as citizens who want change.
We are excited to be joined by Sanne van Manen of Platform Woonopgave, Rada Ruijter of Gemeenteraad Amsterdam, Prof. Ana Pereira Roders of TU Delft Heritage and Values and Anna Mistry Bergbom of ACAN Sweden, who will share their efforts, research and demolition stories.
Doors open at 18.00, the event starts at 18.30. The event will include collective mapping workshop, and snacks and non-alcoholic drinks.
Looking forward to seeing you then!
