Saturday, Sept 26th, 2026, from 10am-5pm, mark your calendars for the first annual Lancaster Capital Day!
This free community festival honors Lancaster's role as the nation's capital for one day on September 27, 1777, and celebrates the rich history, culture, and communities that have helped shape Lancaster County since 1681.
Capital Day will take place in downtown Lancaster, centered on Penn Square, with main activities extending one block in each direction along King and Queen Streets. Local establishments will also be offering Capital Day specials, so the event will extend further throughout the city.
Enjoy historical actors, live music, food trucks, craft vendors, a kids zone, and more throughout the day.
We can’t wait to showcase the history, culture, and people who make Lancaster such a special place!
