Lament to Light: An All Saints Day Concert
About this Event
Featuring Haydn's Requiem and Thompson's Seven Last Words of the Unarmed, this All Saints Day concert reflects on death, loss, and the hope for deliverance. Pairing the two sets the ancient prayers of the Mass for the Dead beside the last words of seven unarmed Black men — among them Eric Garner's "I can't breathe," spoken only streets from Trinity's doors. What the Requiem asks of God, the Thompson asks of us. The program closes with Randall Thompson's Alleluia, and with it the turn the evening's title promises: from lament, toward light." Led by chamber orchestra and choir.
Admission is free but premium seats are available for a $20 donation.
