Under the Constitution, Laleham Archery Club holds its Annual General Meeting each year to carry out several important tasks, like approving the accounts, setting membership fees, changing the constitution, if necessary, and electing a new committee.
Now, we know this can sound like a bit of a yawn-fest, but we really do need as many of you as possible to come, so we usually also throw in some good stuff, like awards and classification badges, plus food!
It's a great opportunity to meet other members off the shooting line, take part in discussions and decisions affecting the club and have a slice or two of pizza on us!
We also use the AGM as a prime opportunity to tell you all about everything the committee has done during the last year but, to save time within the meeting, we issue the Officers’ Reports in advance, so that this part can just focus on discussion, along with your comments, questions and suggestions for the future, so don't be shy!
Each year, all members of the committee stand down from their posts, so all positions are open. Those currently performing roles may re-stand for them, or for other roles, but they don't have to and, even if they do, that is no barrier to standing yourself, if you wish. If more than one person is interested in any particular role, there will be a vote at the AGM to decide who will take it.
The club relies on a strong and active committee, and some committee members are currently having to cover more than one role, which really isn't ideal. So we'd really love it if you would consider whether you can step up to offer some time. Talking of which, the committee has been working hard to minimise the time spent in its monthly meetings, which are now usually around 2 hours each.
