The Lake Winnebago Lap is a 250+ mile endurance scooting challenge. Starting in Lake Geneva riders will head north to Fond du Lac then do a lap around Lake Winnebago, then head back to Lake Geneva. There will be checkpoints where riders must stop and take a picture, other than that riders can take any route they like as long as they do a full lap around Lake Winnebago.
The starting location is the parking lot on the corner of North Street, Broad Street, and Center Street in Lake Geneva. This year will be a flex start. You can start your run anytime between 8:00am and 11:00am.
The checkpoints where you have to take pictures- at the start you must take a picture of your scooter by the bank. You will also need to take a picture of your odometer. There will be two checkpoints in Fond du Lac at the clock on Promen Dr.- https://goo.gl/maps/hdcrYm93XTAcUSrU8 one at the start of the lap and one at the end. You must stop and take a picture of the clock and your scooter, the face of the clock must be visible so we can see when you were at the checkpoint.
The "middle" checkpoint is at N8770 Fire Lane 1, Menasha, WI 54952. You must take a picture of your scooter next to the "Waverly Beach" sign- https://goo.gl/maps/BGM3rZDhy6jxA9V36
The last checkpoint is the same as at the start. You must take a picture of your scooter and the bank and a picture of your odometer.
This should be enough information that you can start mapping and planning the route you want to take.
There will be bonus points for anyone who does the ride without GPS. GPS is allowed but it just isn't as much fun.
This isn't a race. No one will be tracking your time. Either you complete the ride or you don't. There are no trophies or prizes. All you get for completing this challenge is a sense of accomplishment and some bragging rights. That being said YOU can keep track of your time. Those times could be put together and posted in order from least amount of time to most for future reference. Since this isn't a race you can feel free to do some sightseeing along the way. It should take most people 6-10 hours to complete the ride depending on number of stops and traffic.
This is not a group ride. You will be riding on your own unless you form a group. If you are interest in riding with a group, feel free to post a "group wanted" ad.
This event is for people who enjoy long rides. If you are a like-minded individual you are welcome to join in, but you are responsible for yourself and your scooter. If you have problems during the ride they are your responsibility, and it is up to you to take care of them.
This event will be update and adjusted as plans are finalized.
If you want to be part of this event you must RSVP by 8:59 pm September 10 . Based on RSVPs and weather this event may be moved to Friday or Sunday.
If you have questions, feel free to ask. Otherwise go get that scooter tuned up and plan your route.
If you see any typos or other errors let me know and I will fix them.
