Step aboard the Lake Placid Limited and experience a full-day journey through the heart of South Central Florida’s sugarcane country. Departing mid-morning from Clewiston, the train is led by a U.S. Sugar diesel to Lake Placid, and historic steam locomotive No. 148 will operate the train on the southbound leg.As the train winds through rural landscapes, guests are treated to views of sugarcane fields, orange groves, freshwater marshlands, and charming trestles — with chances to spot Florida wildlife along the way.
Upon arrival in Lake Placid, passengers enjoy a generous 3-hour layover to savor lunch, explore local shops and cafés, and visit the town’s beautifully restored depot. Known as the Caladium Capital of the World and the Town of Murals, Lake Placid welcomes guests with small-town charm, 47 larger-than-life murals, and a warm community spirit.
After the layover, the train departs for Clewiston, bringing passengers home aboard a rolling time capsule.
