The Race to the Rock 5K is back!
Following the devastating impact of Hurricane Helene on Chimney Rock and Lake Lure in 2024, our community continues its journey of recovery and rebuilding. While there is still work ahead, we are excited to announce the return of both the Race to the Rock 5K and the Slam the Dam 10K as part of the Lake Lure Olympiad Run for Recovery weekend.
Although the Lake Lure Triathlon will not return this year due to ongoing lake recovery efforts and swimming safety considerations, runners will once again have the opportunity to participate in one of the area's most unique and rewarding races.
If you're a Race to the Rock veteran, welcome back! If this is your first time, get ready for a memorable challenge. This scenic 5K course culminates with an unforgettable finish at the top of Chimney Rock State Park, where you'll be rewarded with breathtaking 75-mile panoramic views of the Hickory Nut Gorge and Lake Lure.
Participant & Spectator Information:
• All participants and spectators will be required to exit the mountain following the race and awards ceremony.
• Race participants will be permitted to return to the mountain later that day at no additional charge once the park reopens to the public.
• All hiking trails will remain closed until the park officially reopens.
