About this Event
Join The Cleanup Club for a spring beach cleanup as we work together to protect our Great Lakes from plastic pollution! ๐
Every year 22+ million pounds of plastic pollution enters our Great Lakes, with an estimated 5.5 million of that ending up in Lake Erie. In 2024, we removed over 41,000 pieces (!!!) of trash from our shorelines โ including single-use plastic, microplastics, and more. ๐ชฃ๐งค
The winter season always stir up the Great Lakes, leaving lots of plastic items washed up on the shoreline. Which is why we need your help for our first beach cleanup of the spring season!
WHAT TO KNOW:
- Our goal is to cleanup Lake Erieโs shoreline while having fun!
- Everyone & anyone is welcome!
- All cleanup materials will be provided.
- All trash we collect will be weighed, counted and categorized with the help of volunteers for Great Lakes plastic pollution research & advocacy efforts.
- A state park fee will NOT be required. If there is an attendant at the entrance, please let them know you are participating in a volunteer cleanup event.
WHAT TO BRING:
- A reusable water bottle so you can stay hydrated with provided water refills without single-use plastic. ๐
- Warm layers! The weather can still be chilly near the water this time of year, dress with that in mind to stay cozy.
WHERE TO MEET:
- Weโll be meeting on the beach. Drive to the south end of the park and park in the last parking lot (right before the camping area entrance) and walk to the beach.
We hope to see you there! ๐
