We are thrilled to announce an upcoming FREE Lafayette event in Nassau, New York, to be held on Friday, April 17, 2026, at 3 pm ET. This event will result in the addition of our 34th Lafayette Trail marker in the Empire State.
On June 13, 1825, General Lafayette was welcomed in Nassau on his way east to Boston. The stop was among the last in New York State before the Frenchman crossed into Massachusetts.
The dedication ceremony for this new marker will take place as part of a Lafayette250 function honoring Lafayette's contributions to American freedom as the United States marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
The event will start promptly at 3 pm ET on Friday, April 17. Please join us at the Nassau Town Hall (29 Church St, Nassau, NY 12123), near the intersection of Phillips and Church streets. The ceremony is expected to last up to 45 minutes and include remarks from all stakeholders involved in the preparation of this marker, the formal unveiling of the new sign, and photo opportunities for attendees.
We would like to express our appreciation to the Town of Nassau and its government, in particular, Town Supervisor David F. Fleming, Jr. Mr. Fleming was instrumental in securing proper approval to ensure that the marker project moves forward.
This new marker was donated to the Town of Nassau, NY, by The Lafayette Trail, Inc., with funding from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation. Once again, this patriotic function is FREE OF CHARGE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. We hope you will be able to attend!
