Dear friends,We are thrilled to announce an upcoming FREE Lafayette event in Andover, Massachusetts, to be held on Monday, May 25, 2026 (Memorial Day), at 8:30 am ET. This event will result in the addition of our twenty-first Lafayette Trail marker in the Bay State.
We are partnering with the Andover Center for History & Culture and the Town of Andover, MA, to bring a Lafayette element to this year's Memorial Day celebrations. The Lafayette Trail marker will be unveiled around 8:30 am ET prior to the start of the annual Memorial Day parade at 10 am. If you plan on attending, please review the following details carefully.
The Lafayette Trail marker will be unveiled at the Revolutionary War Memorial Park, which is located directly across South Church near 41 Central Street, Andover, MA 01810. The park itself is located at the corner of Central St and School St. It has a couple of benches and a rock on which is a plaque with the names of the 22 Andover men who lost their lives during the American Revolution. Please note that the Lafayette Trail marker unveiling will be part of a combined program featuring the rededication of a town sign for the Revolutionary War Memorial Park.
The dedication ceremony for this new Lafayette Trail marker will take place as part of a Lafayette250 function honoring Lafayette's contributions to American freedom as the United States marks the 250th anniversary of the Declaration of Independence.
The ceremony is expected to last up to one hour and include remarks from all stakeholders involved in the preparation of this marker, the formal unveiling of the new sign, and photo opportunities for attendees.
We would like to express our appreciation to the Andover Center for History and Culture, in particular to Director of Programs Martha Tubinis, for her guidance and support throughout the validation process. Our thanks also go out to the Town of Andover and to the Andover Public Works for ensuring the proper installation of the new commemorative marker and the beautification of its immediate surroundings ahead of this one-of-a-kind ceremony.
This marker was donated to the Town of Andover, MA, by The Lafayette Trail, Inc., with funding from the William G. Pomeroy Foundation. Once again, this patriotic function is FREE OF CHARGE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC. We hope you will be able to attend!
