Happy Thelemic New Year! The Spring Equinox—the Equinox of the Gods—marks the beginning of a new year in the Thelemic calendar. Since time immemorial, this celestial moment has been a threshold, a time when the veil between the worlds thins and the forces of renewal stir. In ancient Mesopotamia, priestesses stood at the heart of this mystery, performing rites to align the divine and the earthly, ensuring fertility, prosperity, and the favor of the gods. At the center of these sacred acts was the Gipar, the temple-residence of the High Priestess, where the Sacred Marriage (hieros gamos) was enacted—an ancient ritual of divine union and cosmic balance.
Aleister Crowley, well-versed in the mysteries of sex magick, recognized the echoes of this rite in the Gnostic Mass, where the communion of the divine masculine and feminine brings forth transformation.
Now, we invite you to step into the Gipar and take part in an original rite inspired by the Sacred Marriage—a celebration of renewal, union, and the turning of the cosmic wheel.
