Lady Ain't Singing No Blues

Much of the lore surrounding Billie Holiday focuses on the hardships of her life; her difficult childhood, the drug use and the abusive men, based on her autobiography, Lady Sings the Blues, but Billie had a great appetite for experiencing life to it's fullest and there were things that she loved too, most notably, the music.
In Lady Ain't Singing No Blues, award winning actress, Leslie McCurdy, portrays the Billie Holiday that created jazz vocals by improvising in her music as she improvised in her life, focusing on the high points that helped her get through the lows and the song styling that accompanied it all.
It takes place on the last day of the recording of last album that was released before Billie died, "Lady in Satin", and creates a moment in time that I imaged may have happened. It's Billie, real and unfiltered, the way that she wanted me to write her.
