The Ludington Area Center for the Arts (LACA) will present its 2nd annual ‘10-Minute Play Festival: Tales for the Stage’ Saturday, May 19, 2024.
‘Tales for the Stage’ features 8 winning plays from LACA’s recent 10-Minute Play Festival contest that saw 134 entries from 86 playwrights. This year’s winning plays include ‘Quack’ by George Sapio; ‘Small Talk’ by David MacGregor; ‘Missed Disconnections’ by Samara Siskind; ‘Ahavah’ by David Lipschutz and Dana Hall; ‘A Trick of Whiskey and the Night’ by Gordon Bolar; ‘Joyland’ by Karen Saari; ‘Forbidden Fruit’ by Maripat Allen; and ‘Moon Logic’ by David Lipschutz where selected by judges Scott Sickles and Julie Zaffarano.
This year’s festival will again be directed by Rick Plummer and Maripat Allen who have enlisted an amazing cast of local actors to being the plays to life. Performers include, Krist Blair, Cady Brown, Joe Clark, Nicki Danyluk, Paul Garland, Blade Gates and Ann Genson.
Tickets for the 10-Minute Play Festival are just $20 in advance and are currently on-sale online at www.ludingtonartscenter.org or in LACA’s Art Shop 107. A limited number of tickets will be available at the door for $25. Curtain for the May 19 performance is 2 p.m. LACA will host additional perfromances for the 10-Minute Play Festival Frdiay, May 17 and Saturday, May 18 at 7: 30 p.m.
Friday and Saturday’s performances of the 10-Minute Play Festival will include a cash bar hosted by the LACA volunteers (Friday) and Sandcastles Childrens Museum volunteers (Saturday).
The Ludington Area Center for the Arts is a 501c3 Not for Profit that strives to foster a community where arts and culture bring us together, feed the creative spirit, and fuel community growth. Located at 107 S. Harrison St. in downtown Ludington, Mich. LACA offers monthly exhibits, with first Friday of the month opening receptions; and a wide assortment of performances and workshops. Art Shop 107 by LACA serves as the art center’s gift shop and features amazing original artwork from LACA members, perfect for gifts or home décor.
