Are you a beginner artist looking to build a strong foundation? Or maybe you've been painting or drawing for a while but feel like your work doesn’t quite match the vision in your mind? Whether you’re unsure how to begin a piece or get stuck in the “messy middle” this workshop is designed to guide you through the essential building blocks of compelling visual art.
In this three-hour session Meaghan Ray Peters will lead you through a step-by-step approach to planning and starting a new project using three core concepts: value design and colour. These principles apply to all subjects and styles so you can bring your preferred medium and an image you'd like to work from. You’ll leave with a clearer process for beginning your artwork and more confidence in your creative decisions.
Materials to Bring: Bring whatever materials you typically use—oil acrylic pencil crayons etc.—along with a sketchbook pencil and a reference image. A colour wheel is helpful but not required.
