Let’s Actually Begin Reading About the Sciences (LABRATS)! Hosted by two professional geo-nerds, this is a science book club for the curious who want to explore the mechanics of our world without the dry textbooks. Each quarter, we tackle a new scientific frontier through engaging narratives, ranging from histories and biographies to investigative journalism, personal essays, and beyond.
We keep the structure flexible: each meeting features a primary non-fiction selection to ground the topic, plus two optional deep-dive reads: a secondary non-fiction work and a complimentary fiction selection. Feel free to read one, two, all three, or none and just come for the conversation!
This is a space to explore the physical and biological world through great storytelling.
This is an 18+ book club that will meet quarterly on the 4th Thursday at Fred & June's Books in Mooresville.
